WHO AM I?
A big question for a block of text on the web...
SIMPLY PUT As a creative accomplished in art direction, design, writing and photography, I approach my work as a storyteller—harnessing the power of language, type and image to communicate the intended message to a target audience.
MORE ABOUT ME There are titles—art director, designer, artist—but truthfully, the words that I'd hope to hear most about me are kind and hard-working with a keen design aesthetic. Letters hold endless fascination over me. Photography is magic. Visiting my dad's office on Saturdays as a young child was one of my favorite things, mostly because I had free reign over the supply closet. Dreams really do come true.
HOW I GOT HERE At 20 years old, I boarded a plane to Florence, Italy.
I went to see the world (and have a good time)—which I definitely accomplished—but in the 4 months I lived there, I also encountered art on a profound, everyday level that had a significant impact on me. I began studying design at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, MA., and in 2008, started my freelance design business. I eventually expanded my business to creative & strategic consulting in merchandising, product development and styling. In May 2015, I graduated with a Master of Fine Arts in graphic design. My research focused on themes of identity, language and empowerment, particularly related to children. After completion of my MFA, I was invited to serve as a Visiting Assistant Professor at The University of Florida, instructing and mentoring college juniors and seniors in a professional practice studio course focused on the design thinking process, as well as a senior portfolio seminar.
AND NOW After an incredible stint as Art Director for Atlanta Magazine, I moved to Chick-fil-A as part of the brand design team, working to build in-house creative. I have gotten to work on everything from packaging to the Kids Identity System to photography (which is where you will find me most of the time). My heart is with my crews and telling the stories of brands I love.
